An anonymous source tells Reuters that Tesla representatives will meet with India’s commerce minister this month to negotiate with that country to build a factory to produce a new $ 24,000 car.

This meeting aims to develop new low-cost electric vehicles (EVs) for the local market and export.

Elon talked with India’s Prime Minister

If this meeting happens, it will be the second level of discussion because Elon Musk met India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June. Musk mentioned his intention about a significant investment in India on that occasion.

New Tesla 25% cheaper

The new Tesla for $24,000 would be 25% cheaper than its current lowest-priced offering, the Model 3 sedan.
