Delta Air Lines brings a new solution to enhance the Wi-Fi experience on regional aircraft

Delta Air Lines brings a new solution to enhance the Wi-Fi experience on regional aircraft in the United States. Hughes In-Flight is the connectivity solution to provide passenger Wi-Fi service on more than 400 Boeing 717 aircraft and regional jets in North America. Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) is an EchoStar company (Nasdaq: SATS).

Designed for commercial models, the high-performance, weight-optimized aeronautical solution combines the advanced Hughes In-Flight management system with artificial intelligence and machine learning with a multi-orbit antenna and Hughes JUPITER Ka-band satellite capability to provide in-flight connectivity Reliable in-flight connectivity (IFC), even in busy airport hubs.

“Hughes welcomes Delta to a collaboration that will enhance the connectivity experience for its regional passengers,” said Reza Rasoulian, vice president of Hughes. “Travelers expect a reliable Wi-Fi experience wherever they are, including in the air. The Hughes In-Flight connectivity solution allows Delta to meet this expectation with fast gate-to-gate connectivity.”

“Delta is committed to providing a reliable Wi-Fi experience for all of our passengers, including those flying on our regional airlines,” said Glenn Latta, managing director of inflight entertainment and connectivity at Delta. “Our partnership with Hughes to create a high-capacity, low-weight gate-to-gate solution for our regional fleet brings us ever closer to fleet-wide connectivity with the speed and reliability our customers expect and allows us to further elevate experience in the coming years.”

The program is already underway and on schedule, with initial installations expected to begin in mid-2024.

Capable of operating on high-throughput JUPITER Ka-band satellites around the world, Hughes In-Flight supports seamless roaming between satellites in the JUPITER fleet.

The solution is compatible with the Hughes JUPITER 3 ultra-high-density satellite, the largest commercial communications satellite ever built, launched in July and entering service later this year. It is also compatible with additional Ka-band satellite systems, giving airlines access to broader coverage and lower latency services as they come online.

Globally, JUPITER System technology remains the de facto standard for satellite connectivity with proven performance.
