Apple announced on August 19 the expansion of its Self Service Repair and Genuine Parts Distributor programs to Canada, widening repair options for both individuals and independent professionals. The move grants broader access to Apple’s official parts, tools, diagnostics, and repair manuals, marking another step in the company’s push to extend device longevity and reduce electronic waste.
“Expanding Apple’s repair programs in Canada is another milestone in our mission to make repairs easier and more accessible around the globe,” said Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare Service and Repair. “With today’s announcement, we’re taking a meaningful step toward broadening device longevity, reducing waste, and empowering both customers and repair professionals with quality, secure repair options.”
DIY
Launched in 2022, the Self Service Repair initiative allows individuals comfortable with DIY fixes to access Apple’s manuals, genuine parts, and specialized toolkits. The program now supports iPhone, Mac, and iPad repairs and is available in 34 countries and 25 languages.
Alongside this, Canada is also gaining access to the Genuine Parts Distributor program, which enables repair providers without direct Apple partnerships to purchase genuine parts through wholesalers. In Canada, MobileSentrix will serve as the distributor, offering components such as displays, batteries, and charging ports for iPhone and iPad repairs.
Apple noted that with its expanding repair network, 80% of Canada’s population now lives within a 30-minute drive of an Apple Store, Authorized Service Provider, or Independent Repair Provider.
