On September 9, the world will meet the new iPhone 17 lineup. At this Apple event, we’ll find out if the leaks were correct — they usually are. The new models are iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Below is the list of possible updates for Cupertino’s new smartphone:
Goodbye iPhone Plus, Hello iPhone 17 Air
The ultra-thin model finally arrives in the Apple world. The iPhone 17 Air is set to replace the iPhone Plus. The device measures just 5.5 mm thick, weighs under 150 g, and will be the thinnest iPhone ever produced.
It will also feature a 6.6-inch OLED display with 120 Hz ProMotion. The iPhone 17 Air will run on the A19 Pro chip with 12 GB of RAM, optimized for Apple Intelligence features that are expected to bring something new.
The Air will also have a single 48 MP rear camera and a 24 MP TrueDepth front camera. On top of that, it will support Wi-Fi 7, include Apple’s in-house 5G modem, and may come without a physical SIM slot (eSIM only), a change that should initially be limited to the U.S.
Finally, the iPhone 17 Air will have a compact battery between 2,800 and 3,000 mAh to keep its slim design. In practice, this means you’ll likely need a recharge halfway through the day, a major downside.
