Segundo o analista Tim Long, do Barclays, baseado em informações de funcionários da cadeia de suprimentos da Ásia, os novos iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max custarão mais caro do que os atuais 14 Pro/14 Pro Max. 

O iPhone 15 Pro Max sairia de US$ 999 para US$ 1,099 e o iPhone 15 Pro Max de US$ 1,099 para US$ 1,199 ou $ 1,299. Isso tudo preços dos EUA. Aqui no Canadá o modelo 14 Pro custa CA$ 1,399 e o 14 Pro Max custa CA$ 1,549. Se incluir mais 100 dólares canadenses no primeiro e até 200 dólares canadenses no segundo será um Deus nos acuda, por certo (não, o poder de comprar aqui não é tão maravilhoso quanto vendem os influencers).

Amezinando?

Para tentar amenizar esses preços exorbitantes, a Apple estaria planejando, segundo outros rumores, desta vez vindos do blog coreano Naver (através do usuário yeux1122), aumentar a capacidade inicial dos iPhones 15 Pro para 256 GB ao contrário dos atuais 128 GB. O máximo iria para 2TB de armazenamento. Hoje o máximo é 1 TB de armazenamento.

Rumores assim já foram vistos para os atuais iPhones 14 Pro e 14 Pro Max. Nada mudou. Mas agora seria uma espécie de cala boca para os usuários. “Olha, aumentei o preço, mas te dei mais armazenamento”.

Mas isso é suficiente? O preço parece estar ligado não só a querer ganhar mais dinheiro. O preço maior parece estar ligado a um entendimento que mesmo aumentando mais US$ 100 ou até US$ 200 os fiéis clientes irão seguir o fluxo e comprar mais e mais iPhones. O entendimento de que tal produto virou fundamental para eles permite a Apple dar mais esse passo.

E vale tudo isso?

Os rumores até agora não entregaram nada tão espetacular que me convença que os preços aumentarem trarão um produto ainda superior. É preciso esperar, testar e analisar. 

O certo é que o poder de compra parece ter sido afetado mundialmente após a Covid-19. Empresas pagam menos, dão menos benefícios, a vida piorou sensivelmente. Empresas precisam recuperar perdas repassando custos para os clientes. É a vida assim no sistema em que vivemos. O cliente tem sempre o poder de veto, dizem. Tem mesmo?

New iPhones Pro and Pro Max will be up to $200 more expensive

According to Barclays analyst Tim Long, based on information from Asian supply chain officials, the new iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max will cost more than the current iPhones 14 Pro/14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max would go from US$999 to US$1,099, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max from US$1,099 to US$1,199 or US$1,299. This is all US prices. In Canada, the 14 Pro model costs CA$1,399, and the 14 Pro Max costs CA$1,549. Adding an additional 100 Canadian dollars to the first and up to 200 Canadian dollars to the second will not be a good thing for the clients for sure (no, the purchasing power here is less incredible than the influencers sell).

A good news

To try to soften these exorbitant prices, Apple would be planning, according to other rumours, this time coming from the Korean blog Naver (through the user yeux1122), to increase the initial capacity of the iPhone 15 Pro to 256 GB instead of the current 128 GB. And to increase to 2TB maximum storage (today, the maximum is 1TB of storage).

Rumours like this have already been seen for the current iPhones 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Nothing has changed. But now it would kind of shut the hell up for users. “Look, I raised the price but gave you more storage.”

But is this enough? The price is linked not only to wanting to earn more money. The higher price is linked to an understanding that even by raising another $100 or even $200, loyal customers will go with the flow and buy more and more iPhones. The understanding that such a product has become essential for them allows Apple to take this step further.

And is it all worth it?

Rumours so far haven’t delivered anything so spectacular that it convinces me that rising prices will bring an even superior product. I will have to wait, test and analyze.

What is certain is that purchasing power seems to have been affected worldwide after Covid-19. Companies pay less, give less benefits, and life has deteriorated significantly. Companies need to recoup losses by passing costs on to customers. That’s how life is in the system we live in. The customer always has the veto power, they say. Do we really have any?
