Prices of New iPhones May Rise, Experts Say

iPhone 17

Yesterday, we reported on rumours about the design, software, and hardware of the new iPhones. Today, speculation centers on a possible price increase across the lineup. According to 9to5Mac and other Apple-focused sources, only the most basic model is expected to maintain the iPhone 16’s launch price in the United States, starting at US$799, despite the ongoing tariff war between the U.S. and China, the country responsible for supplying much of the smartphone’s components.

Rumours also suggest this will not be the case for the rest of the lineup. The Pro models are expected to become more expensive: the iPhone 17 Pro is projected to launch at US$1,049, about US$50 more than the iPhone 16 Pro’s initial price. The iPhone 17 Air, which is set to replace the 17 Plus, is also expected to see a US$50 price increase compared to the current model.

While the price hike in the U.S. may be considered modest, the situation could be more challenging in other markets such as Canada and Brazil. In Canada, increases are expected to range between CA$68 and CA$137. In Brazil, the additional cost could range from R$1,000 to R$2,000.
